Located 240 km. North of Acapulco, on the Pacific Coast. The Zihuatanejo International Airport is located 7 km. away from Zihuatanejo and 15 Km away from Ixtapa.
Zihuatanejo best known beaches are La Ropa, La Madera and Las Gatas. This small town has two large supermarkets (Bodega Aurrerá and Comercial Mexicana) where you can find groceries to tools, clothes, stationery and a pharmacy. Go early in the morning to the market to get fresh fish, vegetables and fruit. Both towns have art crafts markets where you can find ceramic, silver, and all kinds of souvenirs.
Local buses charge $10 pesos for a ride from Ixtapa to Zihuatanejo – which are 7 km apart. Taxis in Ixtapa or Zihuatanejo charge $50 to $55 pesos per ride and $70 pesos between the two towns. The airport van charges $150 pesos per person for a ride to Ixtapa or $300 pesos for a private ride and the city taxi charges $150 pesos for the taxi service from Ixtapa to the airport.
